All our programmes under the ELC Scheme start with an initial APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experience & Learning) assessment. This is an objective assessment of individual levels of skills and competence against the specified qualification performance and knowledge outcomes, which takes into account

- attendance on accredited Military training courses

- completion of Professional Institute and other examinations

Q1. What is the Enhanced Learning Credit Scheme?
- The MoD's Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELC) is an initiative to promote lifelong learning amongst members of the Armed Forces.
- The ELC scheme provides financial support in the form of a single up-front payment in each of a maximum of 3 separate financial years.
Q2. What are Enhanced Learning Credits?
- ELCs are MoD allowances for learning activities, which may be claimed for a maximum of 3 separate years.
- An ELC grant is made to individuals serving in the Armed Forces provided they meet certain criteria .
- ELCs may only be claimed for learning which results in a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 or above on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (England and Wales)
Q3. What is ELCAS?
ELCAS is the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service which provides the administrative support for the ELC Scheme. http://www.enhancedlearningcredits.com
Q4. How do I join the ELC Scheme?
- Joiners must be in the Armed Forces.
- To join the ELC scheme you must complete and submit an application form either in your first twelve months from enlistment or in the window between eight and eight and a half years from enlistment. Applications are not permitted at any other time.

Q5. What is an Approved Provider?
- An APPROVED PROVIDER is an organisation that has satisfied the MoD’s criteria to be permitted to run learning and qualification programmes that qualify for ELC funding.
- When a Provider is Approved, ELCAS issues an Approved Provider ID and includes the Provider on a list maintained by ELCAS.
