We use the latest best practice methods of assessment & verification and key features of our programmes are:

E-Assessment – all our programmes can now be completed electronically. This is  particularly suitable for those Learners who are working remotely and cannot be visited by a workplace assessor. The Learner is provided with an allocated Tutor/Assessor (contactable by Email) and supporting E-Assessment & Learning Materials. The Tutor/Assessor is always on hand, by telephone or Email, to provide on-going support, advice & direction for the duration of the programme.

Electronic Portfolios – GRWBL’s E-portfolio is easy to use, fully compatible with systems used by Learners and avoids the mountain of paperwork usually associated with NVQs.

On line web site support - When you register for a Supply Chain Management NVQ programme, you are allocated a User ID and password for the E-LEARNING CENTRE on this web site which gives you access to the on-line library of supporting resources, including:

The Initial Competence Assessment is a skills profile/gap analysis and APEL (Accreditation of Prior experience & learning) assessment which determines which Level of qualification you are suitable for and which choice of optional units best fits your skills profile.

Workplace Assessment means that your allocated Assessor assesses you undertaking your day to day work activities, thus reducing the amount of product evidence that you have to generate.

Professional Discussion is used in Level 4 and Level 5 programmes where the Learner has extensive Supply Chain management experience and is working at a strategic level in the organisation. The GRWBL Assessor initially advises on any APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experience & Learning) evidence arising from:

The balance of the qualification is completed on the basis of a planned and structured professional interview in the workplace. This interview is usually recorded on audio tape and submitted as the performance evidence.

Knowledge & Learning Development support
To assist those Learners who have completed a Supply Chain Management  NVQ Level 3 qualification and wish to progress to Level 4, but do not initially have the scope of job activities to cover all the Level 4 requirements, GRWBL has designed an ACCREDITATION OF LEARNING ROUTE.
The Learner is provided with an allocated Tutor and supporting Learning Materials. Evidence is provided through the completion of Assignments.
This programme can also be delivered in-company for Groups of 4 or more using a series of Knowledge Workshops.

  • L5 Supply Chain Management NVQ  £3250
  • L4 Supply Chain Management NVQ  £2950
  • L3 Supply Chain Management NVQ  £2850

Q2. How do I pay for my VQ programme with GRW Buy-lines?

GRW Buy-Lines will provide you with a fixed price quotation.

  • If your Employer is funding your programme, we require a Company Purchase Order – as soon as we receive the Purchase Order number, we can start your programme.
  • If you are paying for your programme personally, Click on the PAY NOW button on this web site and you will be given the option to pay via PAPAL or Credit/debit Card. Your programme will start as son as we receive payment.

Q3. How do the Supply Chain Management NVQs compare with Professional Institute qualifications?

Many Members of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply achieve MCIPS by completing the CIPS Graduate Diploma, which involves passing Examinations at CIPS Levels 4, 5 and 6. However, alternative routes include the successful completion of a L4 Supply Chain Management NVQ

CIPS have declared that the  Level 4 Supply Chain Management NVQ will provide a route to MCIPS provided that the candidate:

  • completes at least 3 optional units in the group from Unit M5 to M19.
  • has at least 3 years experience in a position of responsibility in purchasing and supply management

Q4. What is the structure of the Supply Chain Management NVQ?

The Supply Chain Management NVQ is based on the National Occupational Standards of competence for Supply Chain Management. The standards cover the whole range of supply chain activities and reflect a wide range of Supply Chain jobs in the workplace. There are Optional Units covering:

  • Project Management
  • Procurement
  • Contract Management
  • Inventory Management
  • Warehousing
  • Distribution & Transport
  • International Trade

This means that people working in these areas all have the opportunity to achieve the Supply Chain Management NVQ by selecting those units which are relevant to their job.

Units of the standards are arranged on a flexible core and option basis, which enables a match with a wide range of jobs across the supply chain. There are Core units which are mandatory and then optional units from which appropriate selections can be made.

  • LEVEL 5 :   8 units must be completed
  • LEVEL 4 : 10 units must be completed
  • LEVEL 3:   9 units must be completed

Q5. At what Level do I start?

The entry Level is the one which is appropriate to your current job role and responsibilities, because you have to be able to provide current evidence that you are doing the things required in the Standards. It is possible, therefore, to start at say Level 4, but this decision is made at the outset after the Assessor has looked at your current job role and your prior skills, learning and experience.

The standards and NVQs can also be used as a development tool by providing a benchmark for staff to aspire to. For example, someone may currently be working at Level 3 but the employer may want to develop the individual into some Level 4 areas. The standards are a best practice benchmark, so they provide the framework for development plans to be structured in this way.

Q6. How does a typical programme work?

Workplace evidence must be provided and assessed. Where the Assessor visits the workplace, flexible work based assessment means that competence can be judged by observation and discussion, thus reducing the amount of paperwork that is required for a portfolio. Level 4 would normally be completed by a process of Professional Discussion. Most of GRWBL’s programmes now use E-assessment and Electronic portfolios: this speeds the assesment process because the programme can progress without waiting for a scheduled Assessor visit.

A certificate is awarded to the Learner for each Unit that they successfully complete. When all required Units are completed, these are submitted to the Awarding Body (EDEXCEL) which issues a certificate for the full qualification i.e. Supply Chain Management NVQ Level 3, Level 4 or Level 5.

Q7. What is underpinning knowledge?

As well as providing evidence to prove that you can undertake specified activities, you must also be able to demonstrate that you understand the reasons why you do things. This is set out in the Supply Chain Management NVQ in the form of Knowledge specifications. The assessor must be satisfied that you have all the specified underpinning knowledge and this may be tested by the Assessor asking questions.

Individuals are likely to have certain gaps in knowledge and it is in these areas that training and development may be required. GRWBL deliver the Supply Chain Management NVQ as a Development Programme and coverage of the knowledge requirements is assured through the provision of supporting Learning Materials, Reading Lists and recommendations on suitable Training courses.

Q8. How long does it take to complete a Supply Chain Management  NVQ?

There are no set times because each programme must be tailored to the needs of the individual candidate This will be determined at the start of a programme as part of the Initial Assessment Plan, when workload priorities and existing skills levels will be taken into account.

Generally programmes are completed with 12 months, but the use of E-assessment & Electronic Portfolios means that most programmes can be completd in a shorter timescale. If Professional discussion is used for a Level 4 or Level 5 NVQ then a fast track of 4 months is possible.
